iLiv ai, a startup launched by Jackson Dawson, is seeking an entrepreneurial Software Engineer Tech Lead to establish and lead an AI-native engineering team. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to drive the development of innovative AI-powered software solutions.

The ideal candidate is passionate about AI, eager to explore cutting-edge AI and GenAI capabilities, and excited about building an AI-first engineering team from the ground up. This is a hybrid role based out of our Dearborn, MI office, requiring 2-3 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Design and architect scalable, reliable AI-integrated software systems
• Make critical decisions on technology stack and frameworks
• Mentor team members and foster a culture of continuous learning
• Conduct code reviews and uphold coding standards
• Implement DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices

Project Execution

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications
• Manage complex projects by breaking them down and assigning tasks
• Proactively identify and mitigate potential project issues

Hands-on Development

• Contribute to critical components of the software system
• Develop robust unit tests and participate in integration testing
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Team Collaboration

• Foster a positive, collaborative team environment
• Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making processes
• Identify skill gaps and recommend development opportunities

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing ML and Generative AI systems
• Experience as a Tech Lead in software product development
• Proficiency in Python and other programming languages (e.g., Java, C++)
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Experience with DevOps and SRE practices
• Expertise in cloud platforms and databases
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
